Seit 3 Jahren jetzt.
Was hast du vor Drum & Bass gemacht?
Lol!

Introducing the newest signing to Audio Addict Records, we caught up with Hexa from Newcastle. He is already smashing up the scene with releases on Serial Killaz, Pick n Mix, Subway Soundz & Incurzion Audio so ahead of his debut release „End of Line“ we catch up with the self proclaimed “Geordie Boy Wonder” to find out where he gets his inspiration from!
What are your top 3 tracks at the minute and why?
Oooh, this is a tough one, I really do have quite a few favourites, but to narrow it down and keep it Drum & Bass I“d have to go with:
1. The Sauce – 100: I“m a big fan of all of their music but this one really caught me and I“ve not been able to get away from it! Every time I“m on the decks its constantly getting drawn for:
2. Serum – Chop House: I“ve never got to experience this in a club enviroment as of yet but that is probably adding to my fondness of the tune, it“s just one of them fresh and funky tracks which can be listened to at home just as much as dancing to in a club! Can“t wait for it to drop:
3. Skylark – Intervals: this tune has been in my sets non-stop since the overview promo came in (big up the boys). All the way up to lockdown I was opening all my sets with this and if you have been watching my livestreams you will have seen me still featuring it then:
Who is your favourite producer in the scene right now and why?
There are a lot of great producers in the scene at the moment, which makes it very difficult to narrow it down. However, Skeptical has always been a major stand out producer for me! I love all his music, when his „Enjoy This Trip“ LP dropped last year I had it playing on repeat, very raw Style!
Where do you draw inspiration from for your music?
My inspiration for my music can come from many different things, a main one for me is emotion, depending on how my days been will often decide which sounds/designs I go for. Also with me driving an hour to work and an hour home on weekdays helps a lot as I can soak in all the different types of music I have on in the car.
Favourite event you have played to date?
My favourite set to date has to be my show down at E1 London for Drum & Bass Allstars, this show was b2b with Disrupta and Banzai and the main room was still packed out till 6:00 in the morning when our set ended. Never played a venue with that type of capacity until then so it was a real buzz!
The track that got you into Drum & Bass?
I delved into Drum & Bass a lot when i was younger but I didnt really understand the concepts of genres so I will go with the one that really stands out for me in my memory: Grafix – „Holding On“. I still wont skip this track if it comes on when Im in the car, such a nostalgic tune for me.
What is your favourite label?
My favourite label right now has to be Souped Up, the tunes the guys have been pushing are really a bit of me. 31 Recordings is also up there for me, such a strong back cat. You’ll always hear me playing a few tunes from there.
How long have you been producing music?
3 years now.
What were you into before Drum & Bass?
To be honest Drum & Bass has always been floating around in the picture, I liked and still like lots of Garage, feel good House, Hip Hop, Rock, you name it hah. Im a very open minded person when it comes too music.
Can you think of any “eureka!” moments when discovering and mastering production?
An eureka moment for me has to be, getting my first outboard synth and realising Im much better using my hands to make sounds than I am with my mouse on PC!
Most exciting moment of your career so far?
By far the most exciting moment of my career has watching my track „War Cries“ blow up the way it did, such a mad feeling for a newcomer to watch his track doing the rounds with his favourite artists smashing it out at clubs. Shouts to: Skeptical, Serum, Annix, Hedex, Skantia and loads more for the constant support on the track!
Favourite piece of music technology?
For me it has to be my CultureVulture or my Euro rack, never not playing with them. Lol!
If you could collaborate with anyone who would it be?
If I could collaborate with any person at this currrent time I would have to choose Serum! Absoluteley love his tunes.
Thanks for the interview. Any last words?
Quick shout outs to all the newcastle boys: Kl, Scudd, Skantia, Nectax, Kastro and Dannox as well as all the Incurzion Homies!
