Die Mozilla-Entwickler haben knapp 16 Monate nach dem Erscheinen der Version 0.9 die erste Beta ihrer Kalender-Erweiterung Lightning 1.0 vorgelegt. Sie fügt sich laut den Versionshinweisen nahtlos in den aktuellen E-Mail-Client Thunderbird 3 ein und unterstützt auch die Web-Suite SeaMonkey 2.0.

In der Software wurde nach Angaben der Entwickler die Unterstützung des Kalenderstandards CalDAV verbessert sowie die Interoperabilität mit CalDAV-Servern. Ansichten wie die Kalenderdarstellung und die Aufgabenübersicht zeigt sie in Tabs an. Die Software liegt für Windows, Linux und Mac OS X zum Download bereit.
